You’ve heard it right, the return of kinsey’s is coming to Aigburth. However, the bakers will be under different management and a different name.

Kinsey’s was originally opened in the early 1960’s by two sisters; the bakery out lived many other businesses right up and down Aigburth road. I as a child used to visit Kinsey’s (on the daily in fact; I was a big fan of their ‘yum yums’) I remember the old yellow panelling from the walls and the ground, the warn-down varnished wooden counter and the two little old ladies who would be there every day without fail. As soon as you walked into the bakery, you was immediately welcomed with a friendly face. I can still smell the burnt sausage rolls that would be specifically put to the side for me.
I can say confidently that the whole of Aigburth was heart broken when Kinsey’s closed for business in the summer of 2009. Following the closure of our treasured bakery, many other businesses have tried to be successful in its place. The retail spot has been a chicken shop, a hair dresses and a chip shop. All of them have come and gone; nothing like the 49 years that Kinsey’s was open for business.
So, bringing us to present day- a rumour was floating around about how Kinsey’s could be reopening. It’s true. I have had this rumour confirmed by Steve Burn (retired FireFighter, 53). The father of three daughters who have decided to do a grand re-opening of the Bakery. The three daughters, Emma (25), Jane (30) and Lindsey (32) have bought the property and are currently in the process of giving it a re-vamp and have not yet decided on a name.

Now, not everything will be the same as before. I don’t think any other bakers could recreate the magic that happened inside Kindey’s. The sisters have said that they want the a very simple vibe inside, very like how it was before. The stoves and ovens will be restored, giving their customers fresh breads and pastries daily. The major thing that will be different is that most things will be vegan. So I guess that means no burnt sausage rolls, however after speaking to a few members of our community I don’t think that will really matter.

“Everyone was heart broken when the bakery closed, my wife stopped eating bread because she insisted no other bread tastes as good as the Kinsey sisters’ bread!”

The bakery will be opening later this winter, they will be proving a whole new healthy menu but promised to be keeping some of the recipes that Kinsey’s was famous for.
